The TCSA is hosting our Winter Semi-Annual General Meeting!

We host this meeting twice each year—once per semester, to ensure that Trent students can learn what your student union is doing for students. At our Semi-Annual General Meetings, we bring forth proposed policy and governance changes with the aim of running a more effective student union; we review the Association budget so you can see how your money is being used; and we update our membership (that’s you!) about what our Executive Team and our Board of Directors has been planning and achieving throughout the year.

Our Winter SAGM is happening on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm on Zoom. All students are encouraged to attend. You can view meeting materials and register for the SAGM on the TCSA website. All participants will be entered to win Trent Cash “door” prizes!

The February TCSA Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 at 1:00pm on Zoom. We will be approving TCSA’s audited financial statements and the second draft of the TCSA budget, as well as any referenda questions motioned by the Board.

Join the TCSA and Trent Spiritual Affairs for our collaborative event: Living the Golden Rule: Building Interfaith Solidarity, an engaging panel discussion focused on fostering mutual understanding and collaboration among diverse faith communities.

• Reem Ali (City of Peterborough): Reem brings valuable insights from her work addressing Islamophobia and was a key panelist at last year’s Challenging Islamophobia event.

• Peter Boullata (Unitarian Fellowship of Peterborough): A respected leader and advocate for interfaith dialogue.

• Ziysah Von Bieberstein (Beth Israel Synagogue, they/them): A dedicated member of the Trent and Peterborough Jewish communities, Ziysah has worked on the Abraham Project, fostering interfaith collaboration, and is currently developing anti-hate curriculum focusing on antisemitism and Islamophobia.

What is the Golden Rule?
The Golden Rule, also known as the Ethic of Reciprocity, is a universal ethical principle found in countless cultures, religions, and philosophies. It emphasizes values of mutual respect, interdependence, and reciprocity, often phrased as "Treat others as you wish to be treated." This principle serves as a common moral foundation, encouraging unity and understanding across diverse traditions.

Attention student renters! If you’re looking to rent a house, room, or apartment off-campus, this event is for you!

Join the Trent Off-Campus Housing Coordinator, Nicole Sullivan, as well as TCSA’s Off-Campus Commissioner, Diamond, and TCSA President, Nav, for this interactive and informative event on Thursday, January 30th from 4pm to 6pm in the Student Centre Event Space.

There will be presentations about off-campus housing, tenant rights, lease agreements, and more. We will also have a Q&A period during which students can ask any questions relating to housing or off-campus concerns.

The January TCSA Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at 1:00pm on Zoom. We will be approving the Annual General Meeting materials, striking a Student Award of Excellence committee, and updating everyone regarding the TCSA spring general elections schedule.

For the CIRCLE's first event of 2025, we are hosting a coffee and tea hour to discuss the history of the CIRCLE, how and why the name has been switched from the Freedom Lounge, what the room is, and more!

What’s more winter-y than a ski trip?

Sign up for TCSA’s cross-country ski trip on Saturday, January 11th, 2025. We will be taking students by bus to the Kawartha Nordic Ski Club, where you’ll be able to rent cross-country skis and poles and ski through beautiful winter scenery on ski trails.

The cost per student is $30, and this includes bus transportation and ski rentals. Tickets are open for Trent University undergraduate students. Purchase your tickets here.

The bus will depart from Bata Library bus loop around 10:00am and return to campus around 4:00pm.

Please dress warmly to spend the day outdoors: winter jacket, snow pants, boots, gloves/mittens, scarf, and toque/ear muffs. Feel free to bring a water bottle and some light snacks.

TCSA’s popular Sexy Bingo event is back for Frost Week to welcome both new and returning students to campus for the Winter Term!

Join us on Friday, January 10th, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm in Wenjack Theatre for an evening of BINGO, hosted by drag queens.

Each participant will receive a set of BINGO cards and you’ll have a chance to win prizes (both sexy and non-sexy prizes available).

Make sure to get to Wenjack early to get a seat! This event fills up fast.

Are you a hockey fan? The TCSA is taking Trent students to watch the Peterborough Petes take on the Barrie Colts for the Petes’ first home game of 2025 for TCSA’s Frost Week!

We want to welcome both returning and new students to grab your friends and join us at the Petes hockey game on Thursday, January 9th at the Peterborough Memorial Centre (151 Lansdowne St. W.). Puck drop is at 7:05pm.

Welcome back to campus! Kick off TCSA’s Frost Week with a Guided Art Therapy Paint Night with Art Therapist Myria Rei Solas. Join us on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025 in the Student Centre Atrium at from 4:00pm to 7:00pm for a guided paint night. All materials will be provided. Space is limited.

Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate. Connecting to your creativity, in a safe and supportive environment, however, can in itself be therapeutic.

In art therapy, through the art, the emotions, thoughts and memories can be accessed and explored, facilitating self-reflection, understanding and growth.

The December TCSA Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 1st, 2024 at 1:00pm on Zoom. We will be approving the 2024-2025 TCSA staffing plan, and reviewing the Executive feedback report.
